Elitebook 8730w
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Hp 8730w  and it currently has a 160 Gb HDD. I have one extra 500 Gb HDD.

Will 8730w be able to support it? I have seen its specs and found this info from Hp's site:

Internal Storage Device:
  • 160/250 GB 5400 rpm SMART SATA II Hard Drive

  • 160/250/320 GB 7200 rpm SMART SATA II Hard Drive

  • 80 GB Solid State Drive

But according to some resources(Internet, friends etc), I came to know that it can support it. I am feeling a bit curious that whether will it do some kind of damage to laptop.

Need opinions about upgrading. Any personal expreience will be much preffered.

Thanks!

You are fine. it is an older laptop but has a true SATA ICH9 storage controller so has no effective size limit for a SATA hard drive. Do you need a Manual or do you know how to physically replace the hard drive? It is so old the specs are from a time when drives were smaller and the Manual only lists the drives HP offered from the factory.

Thanks for your reply.

I know how to physically replace the HDD.
