HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1039nq
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have 500 gb of m.2 ssd and I know that my laptop has a second ssd slot that is actually an sata and I have a spare sata ssd from my old laptop that is not used anymore.

I was wondering if I would lose my warranty by doing the upgrade myself. I asked the employee's from the store that I bought it from and they said that they would email me in a few hours but they didnt and I started looking all over the internet and the hp website to find out if it will void my warranty. Cause I dont want to lose it but I also dont want to go to a professional and pay more than I should just for a few screws removed and put back.

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

Your notebook only has one M.2 slot for a SSD as far as I am aware.

According to chapter 5 of the maintenance and service guide, upgrading the memory and drives is a customer-authorized procedure, and you should not void the warranty unless you break something during the course of taking the notebook apart.

However, please note that should your notebook need warranty work, you will need to return it to its original configuration prior to sending in for repairs under the warranty.

I am from Romania and when i asked the guys from the shop that I bought, they said that I have to do any upgrade in an hp authorized service but I have to go like 50 miles to the first one and then pay for the upgrade or atleast that is what they told me.

And on their website at the specifications tab I saw that the laptop has a sata slot. They might be wrong but I am not sure.

I suggest you contact HP in Romania because as you can see from the service manual, they indicate you can do memory and SSD upgrades yourself.

In that chapter is the list of components you can work on yourself.
