OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf1000 (8X3Y6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a 2024 HP Omen 16 (OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-wf1025TX (9Q9M9PA)), and I would like to know if I can upgrade my storage, specifically by installing an additional SSD in my laptop's extra/empty NVMe slot. I was told by the reseller I bought this laptop from that my laptop's warranty will be voided if I install an additional SSD, however I don't see any clauses of the HP Terms of Service that states so.
I also bought an extended warranty for my laptop as well, which adds 2 years of warranty to the 1 year warranty that came by default with my laptop.

I would like clear answers for the following questions, preferably with links to the relevant resources, so if there's any dispute in warranty claims I can rest easy knowing I've not done anything that violates ToS.

1. Will installing an additional SSD in the empty NVMe slot void my warranty?

2. Do I need to bring my laptop to authorized HP personnel for installing the SSD, or am I authorized to install it myself without voiding the warranty?
3. What SSDs can I install in the 2nd slot? (I could not find information about compatibility, with some sources saying it is a Gen3 NVMe PCIe slot, while others say Gen4 NVMe PCIe slot)

Referring to the 3rd question, there seems to be limited information about upgradeability for the 2024 HP Omen 16. If you do reply, please try to answer most, if not all questions I have. I'd be very grateful.

We do not work for or represent HP, so we are unable to reply on HP's behalf regarding the warranty terms and conditions.

I recommend you contact HP customer service and seek a definite answer from HP.

Chapter 5 of the service manual on your notebook's user guides support page indicates that installing SSD's or memory is a customer-authorized procedure, so off the record, I would assume that you will not void the warranty unless you break something in the process of doing the upgrades.

The service manual is for the previous model series with the Intel 13th generation core processors.

Do note however, that if your notebook ever needs warranty work, you must return the notebook to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for service.

I would speculate based on your notebook having a 14th generation core processor that both NVMe slots would be PCIe Gen 4.0.
