I' about to buy an SSD with the following specs: S700 250/500 GB 2.5"SATAIII 3D NAND, Will it work?

Yes, your machine will accept nearly all standard 2.5" SSD's. But why only 500GB ? You can use 1TB or 2TB

I guess the reason is price and performance. How much faster will my OS and internet be with 500 and/or 1TB  be than 250, considering I can get a 250SSD for less than $40 vs the higher GB?
