ENVY M7-U109DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

Does anyone know for sure whether M7-U109DX will work normally with internal (main, not RTC) battery dead or removed?

My other laptops, couple of old Toshibas, Dell, Acer, all work fine without batteries. But they all have batteries accessible from outside.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Yes, it works w/o normal battery, only from Main BUT this is a risky business because if power failed, your machine would be unrecoverable.

Thank you for your reply.

What do you mean by "unrecoverable"?

Will it boot from bootable USB drive?

I understand the possible implications of power loss. I would understand the OS problems, due to lack of proper shutdown.

I would understand the hard drive problems, due to possible read/write at the moment of power loss. But my concern is the possible design which prevents entire system from booting even if there was no damage to OS or hardware.

Thanks again for your input.
