HP EliteBook Folio 9470m
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi - I'm thinking of upgrading to Windows 10 on my EliteBook Folio 9470m with Intel Core i5 and 4GB installed memory.  Is this possible? and how do I do it please?

I also use a MFP M175nw LaserJet printer.  Is this also ok for Windows 10, and do I need to do anything for it to work ok?

This non-expert would be grateful for help!

Hi:

There is an incomplete set of W10 drivers on the support page for the 9470m.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-folio-9470m-ultrabook/5271146

After the upgrade, the sound may not work, with possibly no resolution, and the wifi may not work either.

I certainly would not pay to upgrade to W10 considering the gamble.

However if you have a way to reinstall W7 and want to experiment, you may still be able to get the W10 upgrade for free by reading the info at the link below.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

You can get the upgrade to W10 by clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the upgrade process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you don't delete any files after the upgrade, you should have 30 days to go back to W7.

I can't answer your question regarding the printer working on W10, and suggest you post that question on the Laser Printers support section...

Many thanks Paul!  In light of the risks you mention I think I'll stick with the Windows 7 until the lack of Microsoft support becomes problematic, and then invest in a new laptop.
