Had an HP stream 11 for a couple of years now but pestered with Windows 10 updates that the machine is not capable of taking.
Microsoft keep telling me that they are unable to update due to memory issues. This I know and just want to stop Microsoft reloading Update assistant and trying to update Windows 10.
Both HP and Microsoft must know of this problem but seem to want to just ignore the problem.
Can anyone help.

The problem is the fact of only having a 32Gb eMMC storage drive on the Stream. We see many with this issue. I just obtained a Stream on loan from HP to test. Even with nothing extra installed or any files, photos etc it soon runs out of space after getting a few updates. Unfortunately, the best option is installing a clean copy of Windows 10- after moving any files, photos, etc to external storage or cloud backup. You will also need another machine with free space to make the usb installer.
Your Windows 10 license key is embedded in BIOS and you can reinstall Windows 10 with the latest update included. You must use another fully functioning machine with free space to make this installer.
Microsoft provides the free Media Creation Tool to download files and create a Windows 10 usb flash drive. At least 8gb flash drive required:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
The Guide here shows exact steps in> Option 1
-------------------------------
When you usb flash is prepared-if you have enough free space you can try this first.Insert the USB flash drive into Stream's port, browse the drive and run the "setup exe". Select Keep personal files and apps.Let it install and if it is successful you will have the update. If it fails move on to next step.
Shut down with usb still attached.Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key and use the arrow keys to move to and select usb. Tap Enter key.
After starting the Install and you go through a couple of screens - choose Custom (not upgrade) and delete each partition. Continue with installation. It should pickup the key from BIOS but if it asks at any point just choose "I don't have a key". It will continue and should activate once you are online.
This will not include the original software from HP but most of it can be installed from your Support page-if you care to fill up the eMMC again.

You're very welcome. For what it is worth- you may want to go straight for booting from the usb rather than even trying to run 'setup.exe" from the usb. It only works in about 25% of Streams and they still end up with very limited free space. With the clean install you should end up with 10-15gb of free space. Owner choice.
