Why does my Caps Lock toggle on and off repeatedly when I hold down the key, but not when I press it with Shift/Alt?
In this condition, when I play games, games with Caps Lock keybinds do not function properly because when I hold down the Caps Lock key, it flickers on and off.
However, I can still hold down the Caps Lock key, but I have to add the Shift or Alt key. Then the Caps Lock can be held down without flickering.
And this started happening after I updated Windows, and another thing is, after the update, a capslock notification appears when I turn on or turn off the Caps Lock, and with that notification, I realized that I couldn't hold down the Caps Lock key.

Hi @Rizky_Muhammad ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand there might be a software issue causing the Caps Lock key to behave unexpectedly after the Windows update. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:
- Update Keyboard Drivers: Make sure your keyboard drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, finding your keyboard under "Keyboards," right-clicking on it, and selecting "Update driver." Software and Drivers for HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 15-dk1064tx
- Rollback Keyboard Driver: If updating the driver doesn't solve the issue, you can try rolling back the keyboard driver to the previous version. Sometimes, new updates can introduce bugs that weren't present in the older version.
- Check for Windows Updates: While the update might have caused the issue, subsequent updates could include fixes for it. Make sure your system is fully up to date by checking for Windows updates in the Settings app.
- Disable Caps Lock Notification: The appearance of the Caps Lock notification after the update might be related to the issue. Try disabling Caps Lock notifications to see if that resolves the problem. You can usually find this setting in the Ease of Access section of the Settings app under "Keyboard."
- Keyboard Settings: Check your keyboard settings in Windows to see if there are any options related to Caps Lock behavior. Sometimes, there are settings that control how the Caps Lock key behaves, such as whether it toggles on or off with a single press or requires being held down.
- Test in Safe Mode: Boot your computer into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it's likely that a third-party software or driver is causing the issue.
- Keyboard Hardware: If none of the software troubleshooting steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there's a hardware problem with your keyboard. In this case, you may need to contact HP support or take your laptop to a technician for further diagnosis and repair. HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
