Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is it possible to put pressure on Microsoft to include the Intel i5-7200U cpu in their list of suitable cpu's to operate Windows 11. My HP laptop is only 5 years old and works perfectly. Is it not a tradegy for the planet that I will have to bin this in 2024 and buy new. Lets us all do our bit for the planet and that includes Microsoft. Its an environmental disgrace.

Hi:

I upgraded 11 unsupported HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's to W11.

They all work great.  They get all of the W11 updates, because I check them against a notebook I have that is fully supported for W11.

If you want to try out W11 on your notebook, you will have to use one of the several W11 hardware check bypass methods to install W11.

I found this method to be the easiest way to do that...

Before you install W11, I would make a system image of your current W10 installation prior to updating to W11, so you can easily reinstall W10 in the future.  I used the free Macrium Reflect software to do that, under the Backup at Home section.

Along with the system image, make sure you create the bootable DVD or USB rescue drive you boot from to access the system image stored on your portable hard drive.

@bronshoj,

Yes, I couldn't agree more: it is a tragedy and an arbitrary travesty.  Same story for my HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF fitted with an i7-7700K:

1.) This PC supports Secure Boot.

2.) TPM 2.0 enabled on this PC.

      TPM: TPM 2.0

3.) There is at least 4 GB of system memory (RAM).

      System memory: 32 GB

And Users have and are giving Microsoft feedback about this issue, like this i5-7200U User below, but sadly to little avail.

Microsoft's standard and tiresome BS spiel, quote: "The minimum system requirements for Windows 11 is at least 8th Gen processors. This is to meet Microsoft principles about security and reliability."

Yours and my rigs are rock solid with our respective processors. It’s glaringly obvious that there is an agenda at play here (don't say it ain't to maximize profits and minimize overhead) and it’s definitely NOT to better serve their customers in this instance. Our computers meet or even exceed all of the requirements MS claims is needed for W11.

Anyway, I don't think that Microsoft will add the i5-7200U or the i7-7700K, and a host of other superb functioning 7th Gen Intel processors.

They really don't give a flying flamingo. To say it nicely to maintain Forum decorum.

In short, I can unequivocally recommend @Paul_Tikkanen's link.  My gaming rig has never run better with W11.  Zero crashes. Zero kernel mode crashes, etc.

Kind Regards,
