HP 17-Y002NA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I got a HP 17-Y002NA for Christmas last year, unfortunately it came preinstalled with Windows 10 64 bit.  To be honest I am not a lover of Windows 10 and want to revert back to Windows 7.   I have actually gone into the Bios and changed the settings there to allow me to boot up from a Windows 7 disc and install the operating system sucessfuly.  However, I am unable to locate the drivers for Win 7 64 bit.  I was mistaken in thinking that Win 7 would automatically install some basic drivers for my hardware! Then I wasn't able to connect to the Internet to search for drivers as I was unable to locate any network drivers, graphics drivers or Wireless Network drivers.

I would really appreciate any help anyone might be able to provide, any link for relevant drivers etc.

Here's hoping someone can help.

Many thanks,

You're very welcome.

Yes, I included the W7 wireless, bluetooth and ethernet drivers in my two posts with the driver links.

Hi:

Here are the W7 x64 drivers you need...

Install the amd chipset drivers and restart the PC.  You want the 1st file listed on the webpage.  That will install the smbus and usb controllers.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy4&os=Windows%207%20-%2064

Graphics:   1st driver on the webpage.  Install and restart the PC.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/apu?os=Windows%207%20-%2064

Audio:  Accept the agreement.  Download and install the 2nd driver on the list.

Ethernet:  Download, unzip and run the setup application from the Windows 7 driver file at the link below...

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=7&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTy...

Card reader:  Download, unzip and run the setup application from the 1st file listed at the link below...

Touchpad:

This package provides the driver that enables the Synaptics TouchPad in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The driver enables general touchpad functionality (for example double-tap and scroll) and provides a user interface.

Wireless:  There is no information online regarding what model wifi adapter your notebook has.

Please post the hardware ID for the device you see listed in the device manager that is labeled as a Network Controller.

That is the name that windows gives the wireless network adapter when the driver is missing.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your rapid respone, much appreciated.

I can see on my system via the control panel that the network adapter is:  broadcom BCM43142  802.11 bgn WI-FI M.2 Adapter.

As soon as I fnd the WIFI adapter I will post that too.  Just for your information  I am registered Blind, so might take me a while.  There is a further adapter listed under the broadcom, which is the Realtek PCI FE Family controller, not sure if this is the WIFI adapter.

You're very welcome.

Your screenshot shows that the Broadcom wireless card driver is installed and working properly.

If it is not connecting to the internet wirelessly, unfortunately, I wouldn't know why it isn't.

These would be the latest W7 x64 wireless and bluetooth drivers for that model wifi card...

The package contains the Broadcom wireless LAN drivers and utility that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebooks that are running a supported operating system.

This package contains the Broadcom Bluetooth driver and software for supported models that are running a supported operating system. Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Driver is required to enable Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 devices and is compatible with Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 and earlier versions.

Gotcha.

You should now be able to install W7, and get everything to work with the drivers I posted.

Please let me know if you need additional assistance afterward.

I can't thank you enough.

I have spent ages trying to locate these drivers without any luck, now perhaps I can get around to installing my Win 7 again!

Hopefully now you have provided the drivers I will be able to get things sorted.  Ihad no idea that the WIFI and LAN were incorporated.

Regards,

Mark.
