Windows Hello isnt recognizing my fingerprint scanner. This problem has been ongoing since i bought the laptop in mid August. I have watched many videos and tried so many solutions but none worked, I have no other choice but to ask for help.
The device manager doesnt recognize my fingerprint scanner and doesnt show an option for biometric devices. I would greatly appreciate if someone helped me solve this issue
Thanks.

Finger print reader is optional. Did you buy the option otherwise it is only a plastic plug. If you wish, you can buy
Fingerprint reader assembly (includes cable) part # L13681-001
And install to your machine.
Regards.

Welcome to the HP Community --
The fingerprint reader is an OPTION in this model series.
You have to have purchased the feature with the computer.
If the Device Manager does not detect the sensor, there is no fingerprint reader installed in your computer.

Page 14
If there is no actual fingerprint reader, then there is instead a plain, same color, cover plate where the sensor would be located.
The guide refers to the cover plate as a "plug" --
"Plug" is the same thing as "cover plate" >> both mean No fingerprint sensor.
"Optional" generally means that if you want the feature, you can purchase the fingerprint reader and install it in the computer. See the Maintenance and Service Guide > Page 60.
If you install the sensor, THEN look for and install the Driver for it in Software and Drivers
