HP 2000-2d13CA Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP 2000-2d13CA Notebook PC and it is showing it's age, i have decided to upgrade it a bit, SSD, more RAM etc. but the thing i am most worried about is if the wireless adapter is upgradable so it can connect to 5G networks, i currently have a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter, is this upgradable to one that is 802.11ac or ax?

Hi:

I do not know of anyone on this forum that has attempted a wifi card upgrade in the HP 2000-2d model series.

Most likely, it has a BIOS whitelist which prevents the installation of any wifi card not listed in the service manual from working.

If you want to experiment with a high chance of failure, I would try installing a cheap dual band N wifi card to minimize your potential losses.

Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo  HP part # Broadcom BCM943228HMB WiDi 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo (select models only)  HP part # 730668-001.

The above card will allow you to connect to the 5.0 GHz wifi band and has a maximum throughput of 300 MBPS.

You should be able to find one pretty cheaply on eBay.

Find a seller that ships to Canada.

If you are a high roller, and don't care about losing $25 - $30 on a complete gamble, then try this AC card...

Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo  HP part # 724935-001

You're very welcome.

According to all of the specs and manuals I have read, the max is 2 x 4 GB.

Intel indicates the processor your notebook has can support 32 GB of memory (that would be with 4 memory slots).

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/71142/intel-pentium-processor-2020m-2m-cache-2-...

That would lead me to believe that unless there is a BIOS restriction of some kind, your notebook in theory, could support 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Below is the link to the service manual...
