Hello Everybody

I have a sirious problem, my wireless mouse from Logitec doesn`t work contiously (Most of the time it doesn`t work). Sometimes it works at the beginning from the start of my new notebook, sometimes it doesn`t work. It`s randomly and I have no idea whats the reason for.

I tried a lot. New batteries for the mouse, turning on the mouse bevor and after starting the notebook, changeing the USB-slots before and after starting the notebook, updating the windows, refresh the driver of the mouse, try to install the logitec software, but nothing helps. When I use this mouse at an other notbook oder PC, it works very well from the beginning of plug in of the wireless USB reciver. When I try other wireless mouses or even USB-harddisks or USB-sticks it doesn`t work too.

Can somone help me. Please excuse my bad english.

Best regards Kilian

Hello and thank you for the suggested solutions.
After completing your steps, I still had the problem. The mouse did not respond / worked from the beginning and has rarely connected to the Notbook.

In the meantime, I got help from HP via the Messanger app. I had to do a BIOS update comming from the HP homepage, which then solved the problem.

Thank you for your answer and commitment

@Kilibili80,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the wireless mouse is not working correctly.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Reinstall device drivers

  1. Download the latest drivers for your USB device and install it. If there are no new drivers available just continue with the next step.
  2. Open Device Manager. You can do that by pressing Windows Key + X and choosing Device Manager from the list.
  3. Locate the device driver and right click it.
  4. Choose Uninstall device to remove the driver.
  5. Restart your computer.

2. Change Power Management settings for USB Controller

If USB is not working on your PC, you can fix it by changing your Power Management settings. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Find Universal Serial Bus controllers section and expand it.
  3. Right click each driver named USB Root Hub and select Properties.
  4. Go to Power Management tab. Make sure that Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is not checked. If it’s checked, uncheck it. Click OK to save the changes.

  5. Repeat the process for all USB Root Hub drivers.
  6. Restart your computer.

3. Uninstall the USB Controller

Many users reported that USB is not working, and to fix this issue, you just need to reinstall USB Controller by doing the following:

  1. Open the Device Manager.
  2. Find Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.
  3. Right click the first driver in the Universal Serial Bus section and click Uninstall.
  4. Repeat the process for all drivers in the Universal Serial Bus section.
  5. Restart your computer.

4. Turn off fast startup

Some users report that Windows 10 is booting too quickly and therefore there’s not enough time for external devices to be detected before the system boots.

If USB is not working, you just need to disable Fast Startup, and you can do so by following these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel and choose Power Options.
  2. On the sidebar on the left click Choose what the power button does.
  3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  4. Under the Shutdown settings find the Turn on fast startup and uncheck it. Now click Save changes and you’re done.

According to some users, you might be able to fix this problem simply by disabling USB selective suspend feature. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Open Power Options and click Change plan settings next to your currently selected plan.
  2. Now click on Change advanced power settings.
  3. Navigate to USB settings and set USB selective suspend setting to Disabled. Click Apply and OK to save changes.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
