I have a pavilion dv6 with i3 M330 and 4gb (2+2) ddr3 RAM. It is working but lags a lot. I thought I had a single stick of 4gb but turns out there are 2 sticks of 2gb each. So now I am confused whether I should buy a 4gb stick and replace a single 2gb stick making total capacity 6gb (4+2) or 8gb stick making total capacity of 10gb or just remove both 2gb sticks and replace it with a single 8gb stick.
I am also wondering is it even worth upgrading now as the laptop is now 13 years old and probably I will get a new desktop next year.

I am not going to upgrade the storage. But
What about the RAM? Should I spend money in upgrading it?
I would not upgrade the RAM.

The Intel i3-330 M processor came to market in 2010. There are no Intel Core i3 processors that could be considered fast.
The only thing that would improve the performance would be to replace the legacy hard drive with a SATA 2.5" SSD.
I would not do that because the cost would exceed the value of your laptop.
