I upgraded the 1tb mechanical drive to a Crucial 1 tb ssd. I cloned to ssd (Ive done this before, I followed all the steps). When I tried to boot up, it goes into attempting to repair computer and Ive tried to boot up from an old use boot disk and then I tried with the old hard disc with a Apricone HD to USB adapter but no luck. I used MiniTool partition manager to clone. One clue may be that at one point it says system 10 32gb in stead 64gb. I am stuck on page "choose an option". Ive tried each option and nada.
Thanks Cliff

Can you provide more specific information, as in model and part number, of the Crucial 1TB SSD?
The following web document shows what Crucial memory guarantees is compatible with your notebook.

Did you run Crucial memory's system scanner to ensure that you were purchasing an SSD for your notebook that was guaranteed compatible?

Had you considered using the EZ GIG IV Apricorn software and the Apricorn USB to SATA adapter to clone the OS to the new SSD?
I have purchased Crucial SSD products in the past as upgrade kits delivered with EZ GIG IV cloning software.
Crucial recommends Acronis® True Image HD data transfer software.
As long as the SSD is compatible with your notebook's chipset and BIOS the cloning procedure should work.

Thanks Erico, I used system scanner and it is OK. I have this question before continuing the clone. I have gotten 2 different answers to the cloning procedure.
1 - Remove source drive, install destination drive, connect source drive via USB and clone. This came from a hard drive maker - they said if you do the reverse, the destination drive wont boot?
2 - Connect destination drive via USB while the source drive is still in the computer. This is the way I remember doing it before but it was a long time ago. Is either of these the correct way.
Thanks,
