Does HP have a basic phone number that I can call to speak to someone? Why do multi-billion dollar companies deliberately frustrate contact unless they're selling something?

I purchased a laptop in November and after a month, the motherboard failed. It was a nightmare to get in touch with someone, but after I did, and videochatted them, a cardboard box arrived to send the laptop back. It's been 2 months and the status for the repair is "Please contact HP"... except I can't. No phone number is provided, and because the laptop wasn't for me, I didn't register it to my account. The laptop was supposed to be returned in late March.

My client needs their laptop back ASAP. Who do I have to contact to get help?

Posting the serial number instead of the Product Number / model is discouraged (and against our HP Community - Rules of Participation )

True -

Multi-million dollar companies have a lot of rules - almost all of which are meant to protect the company and the customers the company serves.  The Legal teams are kept busy.

There might not be a way around the customer's privacy -- that is, the customer who submitted the case to HP and / or the registered owner.

Regardless, what you are asking is outside of our HP Community mission.

What?

We can -- and I have -- sent your question to our Moderator team for review.
