I am a graphic designer and run Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop constantly. I currently have a hp pavilion x360 15-dq0095nr laptop and I am looking to make it faster to help handle my workload. I have read the model laptop I have can handle 32 gig of ram (2 x 16gig chips), is that correct? I have also seen motherboards used in the same model series can be interchangeable as well and I was looking at the Intel Core i7-8565U processor and 4 GB Radeon 535 graphics memory. My question about these upgrades are, are they possible? worth it? and if so what steps or other parts or software would I need to complete these upgrades?

I would say that upgrading the motherboard on any notebook PC is not worth it unless you can find one cheap.
Since your notebook comes with the onboard Intel graphics adapter you would have to buy the different heatsink required for motherboards that come with a discrete graphics adapter.
You will also need to buy the higher wattage power supply for the notebooks that come with the discrete graphics adapters.
The service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB, but your notebook should support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

Chapter 3 has the list of supported motherboards, heat sinks and power adapters with their HP part numbers.
The motherboards that have a suffix that ends in -601 have Windows product keys in the BIOS.
Hopefully, you will be able to find all of the parts you need on eBay, because HP does not sell the parts you need to upgrade your notebook.

Paul, thank you for your quick response. I'll look into the parts you listed and see if it is really worth the upgrade. I am currently running with an intel i3, so In the meantime, in your opinion, if I install the ram upgrade (2 x 16 gig chips) do you think I would see a noticeable speed increase with my graphics programs?

You're very welcome.
The biggest issue with graphics-intensive programs not performing well is the onboard Intel graphics adapter.
Installing 2 x 16 GB of memory will help somewhat, but it probably won't provide a huge amount of difference.
I did a cursory look on eBay for the parts...motherboards can be had for $175 - $469, all in pre-owned condition and it appears all are located in China.
You can also find some by doing a general internet search by the part number, but I couldn't find any for less than $350.
I cannot find the heat sink that you would need anywhere, and there are plenty of 65W genuine HP power adapters in used but tested and working condition on eBay.
Before investing any money in 32 GB of memory, I'd study the other parts availability/price situation first.
