HP Z-Book 17 G6 - received on December 2019 with installed the BIOS 01.02.02 Rev.A
(released Oct 9, 2019)
updated to BIOS 01.03.04 Rev.A released on Nov 7, 2019.
No problem at all for months. the CPU a mobile Xeon E-2286M was boosting to 5Ghz without any
problem when One single core was used.
If selected High Performance power plan the cpu stayed to 5Ghz costantly and frequency reduced
accordingly only when more cores were involved.
Updated the bios to 01.04.05 Rev.A 1( released on Feb 24, 2020) after a clean OS install, i dindn't noticed immediately any kind of problem.
I noticed a better heat management from the workstation but generally a lower performance in some tasks.
Now the CPU stay between 4 Ghz and boost to 4.7 Ghz, and never reach the 5Ghz as usual. ( as stated in the data sheet of the CPU)
Considering i can't roll back the BIOS, seems HP and Intel decided to lower the frequency to avoid any kind of Thermal Throttling, but that's seems like a forced downgrade for a CPU that has been payed for a specific characteristic.
Anyone noticed something similar?
Theres any way to rollback to an older bios even HP blocked it since the last release?
Thanks for any kind of response / help.

Hello
HP release a new BIOS https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-zbook-17-g6-mobile-workstation/2289290...
try to see if it's better for Xeon Ghz.
bye

01.05.04 Rev.A reduced even more the performance of the CPU, boosting it to 4.5 Ghz.
And the BCLK of the CPU has been lowered to 99.7 ( Usually is 100.0 )
Considering i can't roll back the Bios, i tried downgrade at last all the chipset driver to the last release of 2019 and seems to have solved partially the problem boosting it to 4.8 and sometimes 4.9 Ghz.
But the frequency and voltage are constantly fluctuating.
With BIOS RELEASE 01.03.04 Rev.A Nov 07, 2019 the frequency and the V.core were more stable.
Sadly i can't roll back to this version anymore to test it.
The last Bios release from HP have for sure some issues with frequency and V.core control.
