I was fooling around and just couldn't figure out what changed besides my screen that I replaced. The post about the gyro chip just didn't sound right to me.
I could see how 3 or 4 days with the thang tore down and battery unplugged might just cause some glitch.
I got one of these early around 2015 15.6" screen with the 3840 X 2160 screen 15-bl012dx. It just all of a sudden about 2" on left side of screen started dragging down the icons to just long streaks back in 2018. I remembered I had paid $1500 for the stupid thing and hadn't fooled with it in several years because of screen and almost chunked it in the trash several different times.
I jumped back into it last week found a screen for $165 and ordered it.
Well I saved it and it was working, the screen that is. That's how I found these posts.
What I discovered was somewhere a driver must have gotten screwed up because after I got it back together and sitting up like a Laptop the screen flipped upside down and had to fool with settings to get that straight. That's like flying a remote control plane back to you where controls are backwards, quite a feat.
Then I concentrated on starting out with the BIOS just like the other people were saying and as they did found Keyboard, and keyboard lights all worked while in bios setup.
I just couldn't buy the Gyro Chip problem, as it was working last week and all I did was unplug battery and spend about 5 hours tearing out the screen with a sledge hammer. I wasn't even in the bottom of the computer.
To make a very long story short, I blew a fresh Win 10 on it from my Media Creation USB and didn't reset it with the Win 10 that was on hard drive.
After install, I started the dreaded updates, and got all the way to May H2o 2021 update and everything, including the keyboard and the touchpad worked as expected.
Then of course windows had a sackful of "Optional Updates from Intel/Hp etc... so I went ahead and put all of them on also. Well somewhere in those optional updates there was a driver that blew up the keyboard and touchpad just as before.
So I reinstalled windows 10 and did all the Windows updates "But No" optional updates and everything is working as it should. I knew when the boot up to BIOS the keyboard was lit up and after loading windows it was dead, no type, no lights, so I knew it had to be drivers.
Hope this info might help someone else.

It was a very long list of drivers, I had to take two screenshots and patch then together. I was almost paranoid to go back to updates and click on the "Optional Updates" button.
Optional updates
Driver updates
If you have a specific problem, one of these drivers might help. Otherwise, automatic updates will keep your drivers up to date.
