I've bought new HP Envy laptop. Its battery lasts only for 3 hours, while i was only using PowerPoint. How can I know it's refurbished or not?. It's HP Envy 14-es0033dx. With Serial Number [Personal Information Removed]. Any body with a clue on ways to identify about the brand new vs. Refurbished?. Also, what is causing the short battery life?.

It isn't refurbished.

If it were a refurbished unit, the serial number would end with the letter R.

You can run the Battery-Report utility to see what the date is for the battery.

I wrote a Knowledgebase article where I explained how to invoke the Battery-Report utility that is part of the Windows operating system

I would expect perhaps 3-5 hours of mobile battery use from a laptop that is mid range tier like yours.

I get 9+ hours of use with my Spectre x360 13-ap000 top tier laptop.

I suggest turning the brightness down a bit and setting power option to balanced, not performance. That should help.
