Hi guys,
Really sorry to disturb you with this question but nowhere to find the info. I own a spectre x360 gem cut. At the moment it has 16 GB ram and I would like to install 32 GB if the mother board supports it. And if it does, what would you recommend? I am looking for more power (working with lots of virtual machines in the same time and some graphic editing too)
Here is a summary of my system :
HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-df0xxx, Product number: 4XJ42EA#ABU
Operating system Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Microprocessor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz
System memory 16 GB
Memory slot 1 8GB Micron 2667MHz
Memory slot 2 8GB Micron 2667MHz
System board 8519 11.73
System BIOS F.41
Thanks a lot for the answers.

Hi:
According to the Crucial memory report for your notebook it can support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

I managed to get the technical specifications for my laptop and it says that the memory is “onboard” . Does this mean it is soldered and cannot be upgraded? Or it’s just how the terminology is used?
Thank you !

You're very welcome.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
There appears to be a contradiction...
The specs for your notebook do indicate the memory is 'onboard,' which means it is soldered to the motherboard, and cannot be upgraded.
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06186011
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicate there are memory slots, chapter 3 offers memory part numbers...
The service manual has a procedure for removing and replacing the memory, chapter 5, pp 33 -34.

So, the only suggestion I can offer would be to open up the notebook and see what is what before buying any memory.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I will try to open it tomorrow and see if it`s soldered or not. In your opinion and experience, if I would really want to have 32 GB RAM on the laptop, if I send it to HP (it is still in warranty) and send them the memory banks as well, will they be able to do it for me ? Would it cost a tremendous amount of monies in order to get it done ?
Money wise (if you have an idea) what should I be looking at ?
Thanks a lot for your time !

To make you understand better, this laptop has been customised to my preferences. I had the previous version, somehow HP managed to brake the old laptop making me lose data and monies. This was customised to my own preferences however as it happens in situations like that I need to upgrade the memory as I am running those virtual machines for my uni dissertation.
At this point, I am looking forward to tomorrow and see what`s what !
Also, I am curios about HP prices, upgrading the memory if I send them my memory banks ! :D:)

You're very welcome.
I imagine that if you are running a lot of apps, you will want to max out the memory.
Since I don't t work for or represent HP, I would have no idea what they would charge for such an upgrade.
I would guess no less than 500 quid for the parts and labor.
They probably would refuse the work, because the service manual states the max is only 16 GB (2 x 8 GB).

Thanks for the time mate,
Really useful info. I will have to wait until tomorrow and see what`s what.
Will get back to you, hopefully I will be able to upgrade the memory.. If not, will try to convince HP to do it for me somehow.
Once again I will get back to you tomorrow once I open up the laptop !
