Hi @Mrtechi

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re experiencing a couple of serious issues after upgrading your RAM, including a blue screen error and problems with your sign-in PIN. Here’s how you can troubleshoot these problems step by step:

1. Check RAM Installation

  • Power Off: Turn off your laptop and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Reseat RAM: Open the laptop casing and ensure that the new RAM is seated properly in the slots. Make sure it's fully clicked into place. If there are multiple sticks, try removing them and reinstalling them one at a time to see if one of them is causing the issue.
  • Check Compatibility: Verify that the RAM you installed is compatible with your system. Refer to your laptop's specifications for supported RAM types and configurations.

2. Boot in Safe Mode

  • Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists:
    • Restart your computer and repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 before Windows starts loading (if F8 doesn’t work, you may need to interrupt the boot process three times to trigger the recovery menu).
    • Select Safe Mode from the options.

3. Check for Blue Screen Error Codes

  • If you can boot in Safe Mode, take note of any specific error codes or messages that appear when you experience the blue screen. This can help identify the issue.

4. Update Drivers

  • In Safe Mode, open Device Manager and check for any devices with warning icons.
  • Right-click on your graphics and chipset drivers, and select Update driver.

5. Run System File Checker

  • While in Safe Mode, open Command Prompt as an administrator:
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan and repair any corrupted system files.

6. Repair Startup

  • You may need to perform a startup repair:
    • Boot from a Windows installation media (USB/DVD) and select Repair your computer.
    • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.

7. Check PIN and Security Settings

  • If you can log in with your password, try to reset your PIN:
    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and select I forgot my PIN.

8. Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure your system is fully updated by going to Settings > Windows Update.

9. Remove Recently Installed Software

  • If you installed any software or drivers recently, consider uninstalling them in case they are causing conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
