Dear HP community,
I recently bought a beefy G10 ZBook 16 Fury Mobile Workstation.
It seems that my laptop is not using the available full RAM speed of 5600MHz (MT/s), despite both the CPU and 5600MHz RAM designed to do so. I am unable to find anywhere in the BIOS to unlock the extra speed.
The specs, in stock form are:
i7-13850HX
RTX 4000 Ada
1TB SSD
32GB 5600MHz RAM (Single)
W11P
I believe this is the product number/page: 62V81EA
You can see below that the stock RAM, Hynix hmcg88agbsa092n , isn't performing as well as it should.
I would like to upgrade and increase my RAM since the stock Hynix RAM I have is quite poor in performance, especially for single-core, compared to other DDDR5 5600MHz modules.
But before I upgrade RAM, would I still have the same issue of running at only 4000MT/s? I am looking to get Cruical RAM.
To HP staff, Why did such an expensive, business oriented laptop designed for heavily demanding programs, receive a sub-par RAM module anyways? (with all due respect to HP and the RAM company).
Many thanks,
Kelvin

Hi @3K9
I am speculating, but from what I understand from the service manual it can reach that speed when it works in double channel, that is to say it has to have 2 equal memories otherwise I think it should work at a lower speed. I am not 100% sure about this but this is what I understand from the manual.
Buy memory that is not XMP this does not work in HP notebooks at its frequency designed by the seller, they go to lower frequency.

Hello @Resistencia,
Thanks for the reply.
I have just installed two 32GB Crucial DDR5 5600 RAM sticks:
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr5/CT32G56C46S5?_gl=1*1qndva*_up*MQ..*_ga*NjY5NDc5NzM1LjE3MzU2MzI1M...
64GB does show up, however, still only 4000 MT/s is in use.
Thanks,
Kelvin
