Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The thunderbolt ports do not work on these devices. There have been many posts on this forum with the same issue.

I have just had an engineer round from HP on 2 separate occasions to try and fix the issue and they have basically said they have no idea what the problem is. They swapped out the motherboard and still nothing.  The ports will recognise a USB-C device but when you try to connect to a thunderbolt device they will not show up. The hardware clearly works as a portable USB drive I have powers up and starts spinning but the disk never appears in explorer.

We tried new BIOS, updating all drivers, absolutely everything and still no luck.  It seems that this is just plain broken on this model.  Has anyone had any luck getting this to work? I'm on the verge of sending the machine back and getting a Dell or something instead.

How do you have the Thunderbolt security settings in the UEFI setup? I have the 3rd gen and Tbolt did not work until I set it to user authentication and allowed the devices with the Intel Thunderbolt management software.

I will check this now. I believe I have this set though as when I plug in a device it will show up in the Thunderbolt management software and ask me if I should allow it. It will often recognise a drive is attached and even the make and model of the drive but it will just never mount it within windows. I will report back.

Hi, yes, it is set to User Authentication. Still nothing.

Then you have a problem I do not.
