ZBook Studio G7 with Intel® Core™ i9-10885H vPro™ processor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

Just received my new HP ZBook laptop.  It's a Studio G7 with Intel® Core™ i9-10885H vPro™ processor.  I accidentally ordered it with 256Gb SSD, intended to put a 2TB SSD in from factory.  I upgraded my previous Zbook (G3) myself, with a Samsung 860 EVO and it worked great.  I'm considering this SSD: SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-V7S2T0B/AM).  Can anyone tell me if this is compatible?

If not, any suggestions on compatible 2TB SSDs to this laptop?

TIA

Not sure how I posted that link. That is a Manual for a much older version. And now the link to the correct manual is a 404 so can't post the correct one. However, I can tell you I have installed Samsung 960 or 970 Evo M.2 SSDs in probably a dozen HP laptops (and other brands too) with NVME capable M.2 ports and never had a problem. I have one in my brand new Thinkpad Carbon X1. If you buy a 2 TB and it does not work in your laptop I will buy it from you.

Compatible and recommended. See pages 28-32 of the Manual here:

Post back if there are any other questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Huffer, thanks for the reply but it appears that the manual you reference, c03916100, is for an older model of a Zbook.  That older model looks much like my current computer and I put a Samsung 960 1Tb NVME in it - worked great!

That doesn't however answer the question, will the newer model of that drive work in my new computer.  The computer I have is a brand new, G7 ZBook, just released this year, and delivered today - the service manual appears to be c06715363. I've looked at the service manual (both the older model you referred to and the newer one that fits my laptop) and neither really helps me know if the Samsung 970 2TB - M.2 NVMe drive is compatible.

Any other ways I can determine if this will work before I spend another $300?

Thanks again

Very gracious of you to make that offer.  It does effectively communicate your confidence.  I'm going to proceed and get one.  If it doesn't work, we have other laptops in our business that I'm certain it will work for so I won't hold  you to your offer.  Thank you for clarifying.  I'll accept as solution and try to remember to post back after my installation to let others know whether it actually worked for certain.

Thanks again.
