Hi @mahadev3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand you’re using the Victus by HP 15.6" Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (A5CJ9AV) with Windows 11, and you’re concerned that the battery backup is far below the expected 7 hours and 45 minutes, often not even reaching 3 hours.
Let me explain everything clearly to you and the steps you can try.
Why You're Not Getting the Advertised Battery Life
- HP's battery life estimates are typically based on light usage (e.g., video playback, low brightness, airplane mode, no background apps).
- Real-world usage (gaming, multitasking, high brightness, Wi-Fi, background apps) significantly reduces battery life.
What You Can Do to Improve Battery Life:
1. Use HP Recommended Power Plan
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Power Mode.
- Select Best Power Efficiency or Balanced.
2. Turn Off Background Apps
- Go to Settings > Apps > Startup and disable unnecessary apps.
- Use Task Manager to monitor background processes.
3. Lower Display Brightness & Refresh Rate
- Reduce brightness to 50% or less.
- If your display supports 144Hz, switch to 60Hz when on battery:
- Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings.
4. Update BIOS and Drivers
- Visit the Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa1389TX (A9NC8PA) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Install the latest BIOS, graphics drivers, and HP System Event Utility.
5. Battery Calibration
- Fully charge the battery, then let it drain to 0% and shut down.
- Recharge to 100% without interruption.
- This can help recalibrate the battery meter.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
