Hello,

I am a HP customer using HP ENVY 360 ultra 7 laptop. Recently I had an motorbike accident and I found a surface damage in the cover side of my laptop. Currently, I don't see any softwear problem but 2 other issues.

1. While I am closing my laptop, there is is 3 lights in the left side of the screen is clearly visible. I am not sure if it indicate any internal damage.

2. Laptop speed is not upto the mark. I think its slowing down , even the battery life too.

I purchased this laptop from USA, now I am in Bangladesh. Where should I go to avail my warranty?

Regards

Hi @Nisharga,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I'm really sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you're feeling better. Before getting into the warranty details Let's try out a few troubleshooting steps to get your HP ENVY 360 Ultra 7 back to its best condition.

Visible Lights on the Left Side of the Screen

This could be an indication of internal screen damage, or a backlight issue caused by the motorbike accident. The visible lights might be due to physical damage to the display panel or the connection between the screen and the motherboard.

Here are a few things you can try:

Inspect the Display for Physical Damage:

  • Check if there's any visible crack or distortion on the screen.
  • See if the lights are constant or flicker. If they flicker when moving the laptop or pressing certain parts of the screen, it could indicate a loose connection.

External Display Test:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV to check if the issue persists. If the lights don't appear on the external display, it confirms the issue is with the laptop's screen or its connection.

Backlight Adjustment:

  • Try adjusting the screen brightness and see if it affects the visible lights.

Repair/Service:

  • If the problem seems related to internal screen or connection damage, you may need to have the screen replaced or checked by a professional.

Slowing Down Laptop Speed and Battery Life

The slowdown in performance and reduced battery life can be caused by several factors, even if there's no apparent software issue. Here's how you can tackle it:

Check for Software Issues

Task Manager: Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and see if there are any programs consuming excessive CPU or memory. Disable unnecessary startup programs that might be affecting performance.

Disk Cleanup: Run Disk Cleanup to remove temporary files and optimize your system.

Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or any other antivirus software to rule out any malware affecting performance.

Power Settings and Battery Health

Battery Report: To check the battery health, type "battery report" in the Windows search bar and run the Battery Report. This will give you details about your battery's health and its capacity. If the health is poor, you may need a replacement battery.

Power Settings: Adjust your power settings for better performance:

  • Go to Control PanelPower Options and choose High Performance. This will prevent the system from throttling performance to save battery.

Battery Saving Mode: Ensure you aren't accidentally using Battery Saving Mode if you're plugged into power, as it can limit system performance.

Hardware Check

Check for Dust: Over time, dust and debris can accumulate inside your laptop, causing overheating and performance drops. If you're comfortable, you can carefully open the laptop (or take it to a technician) and clean out any dust from vents and fans.

Storage Check: Ensure your SSD or hard drive isn’t running out of space, as it can slow down performance. Free up space or consider upgrading to a higher-capacity drive if needed.

Memory Upgrade: If your laptop is low on RAM, consider upgrading it for better multitasking performance.

Update Drivers

  • Make sure all your drivers, including the graphics driver, chipset, and battery driver, are up-to-date. You can use the HP Support Assistant to check for updates or visit the official HP website to manually update drivers.
