I just bought a replacement/new adapter charger for my HP laptop, model hp 14-bf153sa.  The original lead/cable plug has a 3 pin (UK) plug with a 5 amp fuse but the new lead has a plug fitted with a 13 amp fuse. Shall I change the fuse as the original adapter plug  when bought was a 5 amp fuse. I don't want to risk to do any damage to the laptop. I would appreciate very much if anybody could reply to my query. Thanks

If the new power adapter is a compatible HP unit and the power adapter is as well, just leave it as it is.

If the fuse blows, it will not be because the power adapter put out too much current or voltage to the laptop.

The fuse is there for a short or current fault in the power adapter circuitry or the power cable.

Honestly, I have never seen a notebook power adapter with a fuse, much less one that could be changed.

If you still have the original power cable for the adapter you should use that one with the new power adapter.

If the new power adapter is compatible it should have the HP proprietary C5 connector which will make switching to it simple.

This is what the power cable should look like.

Thanks you very much. The fuse is inside the 3 pin plug, not in the charger part itself, and it can be removed and changed if the fuse is dead for example. But in this instance it's new not the corresponding amp from the original
