I have bought this used and found that there no SATA connection and drive caddy for adding a 2nd 2.5 drive...was surprised to find this, can it be added?

 

is it typical?

There are MANY notebooks now have few storage options:

 

(a) Single storage with M.2 SSD or 2.5" HDD

(b) Dual storage with M.2 SSD and 2.5" HDD

 

For option (a), customers MAY BE ABLE to add second drive to have dual storage (only if supported).

 

HP ZBook 15 G6 is a series of many different machines, some have option (a), some have option (b). Your machine has option (a) and it has room for you to add 2.5" HDD/SSD to it BUT you need parts as shown on pafe 37 of the following manual:
