I would like to add a M.2 ssd drive to the laptop, 17-by1003ca. Is it possible? And any M.2 ssd is fit to the motherboard? Thanks!

The specs of your machine is

It has  2 TB 5400 rpm SATA now. From the following information you can add M.2 NVMe SSD to your machine. Standard format is 2280.

 

        https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-17-by1003ca

 

You can use Samsung 970EVO or similar such as

 

          https://www.crucial.com/ssd/p1/ct1000p1ssd8/ct15205127

Hi Banhien,

Thanks for your quick reply. I saw some M2.2280 boards have 2 slots some have one at the end of the board. The one in 'Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD' has one slot as you suggested. Does the number of slots matter?

Other question is, the M2.2280 with NVMe SSD can be bootable from my laptop? Thanks!
