@MSK023,

your service manual (on pages 2-3) indicates that your model's M.2 slot only supports M.2 SATA SSDs, not M.2 NVMe interface.

HP Envy x360 m6 Convertible PC (model numbers m6-aq1XX and m6-aq0XX) Maintenance and Service GuideIM...

You can install an M.2 SATA SSD of any capacity you like. The photos show the M.2 slot is located just below the fan.

Generally, M.2 SATA SSDs run almost at the same speed as 2.5" SATA SSDs, so you have another option to replace the current mechanical hard drive with a faster 2.5" SATA SSD.

See pages 17-19 of the manual. Your battery's part number is 844204-855 (battery description: 4-cell, 55-Wh, 3.62-Ah, Li-ion, cable included).

Thank you for your reply.

I don't know exactly where the spare M2 connector is. Can you please encircle the connector for me? i can see one connector is free, probably this is the one you are talking about, it's just below the fan. i will share some more close pics. Are you referring to the one, on top of which is written as 16396j? Is that the connector you reffering for?

A slot with '16396j' printed on is the slot you need to use for an M.2 SATA SSD.

Page 38 of the service manual I linked earlier shows how to install an M.2 SATA SSD in the slot.

This video shows that an M.2 SATA disk is installed in a slot just below the fan.

You can install an M.2 SATA3 2280 SSD of a capacity you want.

@tk_srq thank you. The video is very helpful.

@tk_srq, please look at Page 38 of the service manual

Solid-state drive
Description Spare part number
256-MB, M2.2280, solid-state drive supporting TLC for use on all computer models           847109-003

128-MB, M2.2280, SATA-3, solid-state drive for use only on computer models with model number m6-
aq1XX    827560-009

The part number 847109-003 is used on all computer models, which includes my model 15-aq 102nx?

And this part number is NVMe PCIe SSD.

So that means MY model 15 aq-102nx supports both NVMe PCIe and SATA3?

This thread reports a successful installation of an M.2 NVMe SSD on an Envy x360 m6-aq105dx.

Solved: Re: Is there a usable PCI Socket for SSD m6-aq105dx - HP Support Community - 8938164

Envy x360 m6-aq1xx and 15-aq1xx models use the same service manual so their hardware configurations are basically same. If m6-aq1xx models support M.2 NVMe SSDs, 15-aq1xx notebooks should do so.

See this thread where Huffer strongly said that an M.2 NVMe SSD can be installed on a 15-aq102ur, but the author never reported back to tell if he actually installed one or not.

Solved: Re: Envy 15-aq102ur x360 M.2 support - HP Support Community - 6223679

All I can say is that your 15-aq102nx most likely supports an M.2 NVMe SSD. Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer.

I didn't read the entire first post I linked in my previous reply.

TzortzisG's reply shows that some of 15-aq0xx/1xx models actually came with M.2 NVMe SSDs factory-installed.

So, I can now safely say that your model supports M.2 NVMe SSDs.

@tk_srq, thank you very much for your attention. i will update once I install one.
