OMEN by HP 15-ax203na Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I wanted to know if this specific laptop has an additional slot for an SSD without having to take out the HDD, as I want to have both the original HDD with an SDD, and if it does what size SDD can this laptop fit in without hvaing to take out the HDD.

Yes it does. It can accept a SATA or NVME/PCIe M.2 mSSD disk in addition to the mechanical hard drive. I have one from this series HP loaned me to use for a year and then donate to charity. Mine came with a 2TB hard drive and a 128 gig SATA M.2 and I swapped it for a 512 gig NVME M.2 disk.

Here is the Service Manual:

Omen Manual

See p. 41 and also see the diagram on p. 38. You can see the M.2 slot between the memory modules and the battery.

It can take either of these kind of M.2 hard drives:

Hi, i am sorry to tell you but i do not think that you laptop can have a second ssd added to the system.  If the laptop has a DVD ROM Drive then you might be able to locate a bay that can convert it to a hard drive bay but that is completely up to you and you will have to do some research as to which will work and which will not.

Please remember to select the answer

My laptop does not have a DVD drive it just has an HDD. I did ring up HP yesterday and the guy told me it can have an SSD but he didn't specify if the HDD had to be taken out

Yes i believe that HDD would have to be replaced all together with an SSD if you wanted to do that.

Hmm, but other versions of the laptop (the omen 15 series) comes with an SSD, and another store told me that it should have it too based off that it would just be an empty slot

Yes the empty slot is there. It probably has the mounting screw, which is the only hardware in addition to the M.2 you would need.

... The task is going to be moving the operating system over to the M.2 disk. Post back if you need help with that. I also posted a video of me doing the upgrade on mine. Not the greatest video but it you want it I will post it or maybe I can find you a better one on youtube.
