Pavillion 14-Ce0068st
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Pavillion 14-Ce0068st currently has 8 GB of ram and has Windows 10 Home iinstalled.

I would like to increase the ram.

Can this laptop handle more than 8 GB?

If yes, what type of ram and how do I get it?

Thank you.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion 14 Laptop PCIMPORTANT! This document is intended for HP au...

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

According to the manual, your notebook has one memory slot that supports up to a 16 GB memory chip.

In order to upgrade the memory, you would need to remove the 8 GB memory chip and install a 16 GB memory chip.

This would be a compatible 16 GB memory chip for your notebook.

Thank you very much. Especially for the service manual! Would have been difficult otherwise to find the memory slot since there wasn't the usual opening on the bottom.

You're very welcome.

Yes, I miss the days of the accessible compartments to the hard drive, memory and wifi card.

Those days are gone forever.

I bought the 16GB ram you kindly provided a link to. It took forever to ship and then for the US Postoffice to deliver.

But it finally arrived and I installed it. All went well and the laptop booted up with 16GB recognized.

I had previously installed a 1 TB SSD on this laptop so I am now happy and no longer run out of memory for some of my memory hungry activities!.

Thank you all for the generous help.

What can anyone do with removed memory modules besides sticking them in a drawer? Any resale value or other use for them?

Anytime, glad to have been of assistance and happy to know that your notebook's memory upgrade project was successful.

Sorry to say that I have all of my old memory chips in a drawer, because I don't want to go through the hassle of selling them on eBay.

However, when I get the notion, I gather up old PC's, parts and whatnot, and give the whole kit and kaboodle to the local PC repair shop for them to recycle or reuse.

They are very happy to get the stuff.  What they can't use, they can recycle.

For example, the contacts on the memory chips are gold plated, and there is a way to recover the gold from memory chips and other devices that have the gold contact pins.

Yes I have a drawer full of old ram too. Donating them to a local computer repair store (do they still exist?) is a good idea. I'll do that.

We have one in our town.

They take everything...old printers, monitors, PC's, parts...

They seem to do a good business too.
