Here is your service manual:

Your laptop has a single 2.5 inch bay which can have EITHER a 2.5 inch old school spinning hard drive OR a 2.5 inch SATA SSD..ONE OR THE OTHER NOT BOTH. There is no M.2 "gumstick" disk slot as on many other models. 

 

Soooo....you can remove the hard drive (1 TB 5400 rpm) you have now and replace it with something like the 2.5 inch wide SATA Samsung 850 or 860 Evo SSD. They make those in pretty large capacities...at least a max of 2 TB and I think they may go up to 4 TB but they cost a King's ransom. Major performance upgrade I will say.
