Hellp HP community,
Well when i was in europe i bought this elitebook 835 g8 with a ryzen 5650u chip and a 256 GB storage, after using it for a couple of days I noticed that the 256 GB would never be enough for me. I'm currently in a country that has no HP official assistance and won't comeback soon.So I'm wondering if i can upgrade it to 512 Gb or 1TB using any nvme m.2 ssd gen 3 !! or will I have to buy a specific one for this laptop ?
please answer me.

Hi:
You should be able to install any brand NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro which is Gen 4), or the Western Digital Blue SN570, which are good performing NVMe drives.
Below is the link to the service manual.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
Chapter 1 indicates that HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 2 TB in storage capacity in the model series.

I'm wondering if I can ask you about another topic which seem to be off-topic but it's kind of related, So let's say I upgraded my ssd and reinstalled windows 10/11 will i loose all my hp programs ? especially the one called hp audio control ? if yes how can I restore them ?

I believe if you use the HP cloud recovery client to make a bootable recovery drive to reinstall Windows, it should reinstall the drivers and software that originally came with the notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. Pay particular attention on how to install the drivers and software.
Here is the link to the software. You can make the recovery drive now if you want, so you are ready to go.
