15-br095ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought a Pavilion 15-br095ms. It does not have a backlit keyboard. Is it possible to install a backlit keyboard on this model? In other words does it have a backlit cable connector on the motherboard? I'm thinking it does since there are models of this generation that do come with backlit keyboards. If so is there a tutorial or some type of doc I can read to guide me through the process?

Upon further research, there IS a backlit keyboard connector on the motherboard of the 15-br095ms adjacent to the keyboard ribbon connector (just to the right of it). I intuitively felt this would be the case for the aforementioned reasons in the chain, and it turns out I was correct. Banhien, you are no expert. Please refrain from answering questions when you don't truly know the answer.  I'm gald I delved futher into it than just blindly accepting your answer as valid.  So for those of you out there who are upset at HP for cheaping out on the keyboard of the 15-br095ms if you have the skill, you CAN procure the materials and replace the non-backlit  keyboard with a backlit one on the 15-br095ms.

Hey banhien. Thank you for the answer. So are you sure about that? So what is the difference between the pavillions that do have a backlit keyboard and this one? I would think that there should be a connector on the motherboard just HP cheaped out on the keyboard by not installing a backlit one.

@stallion15

There are hundreds of different models/products called Pavilion and they are not the same.

Yes, I know there are hundreds. But there is a model with the exact same specs as the 15-br095ms, but it comes with a backlit keyboard. That's why I'm thinking the only difference is the keyboard. I don't see why the connection on the motherboard wouldn't be there.

How do you know the 15-br095ms doesn't have the motherboard connection for a backlit keyboard? Do you have a schematic, spec or are you just guessing?

But what is its model/product ? The  15-br095ms does not have backlit keyboard

Please note, HP can have models from br000aa to br099zz. br095ms does not have backlit keyboard but other bs095xx may have backlit keyboard added. And they do not have EXACTLY same specs.

Here is the laptop that  is very similar to the 15-br095ms; same size, same casing, same size SSD, same screen, RAM, GPU processor, except it has a BACKLIT KEYBOARD. For all intents and purposes, this looks to be EXACTLY THE SAME LAPTOP EXCEPT IT HAS A BACKLIT KEYBOARD.

I'd like someone else to answer, that actually has experience with exchanging a non-backlit keyboard for a backlit one preferably with a spec or schematic as to why/why not this is possible not just a guess based on whether the laptop comes stock with a non-backlit keyboard. My intuition tells me that even if the laptop doesn't come stock with a backlit keyboard that there should be a connector on the motherboard for a backlit keyboard should one want to install a backlit keyboard. Especially in this case since there are pavilion laptops of the same generation with all other specs being equal except for the backlit vs non-backlit keyboards.

Well, you can try.
