I actually received my backlit keyboard today from China for the 15-br000 series, and did the swap. You will need a soldering iron to solder the little, black, plastic circles that pop off when you remove the keyboard frame and keyboard from the underside of the top panel. You place the new keyboard then the backlight pad with the narrow 4-pin connector then the metal housing. You push it all in tight and solder the plastic in about 40 places where the little, black, plastic caps popped off. You reassemble the laptop, and now you have the backlit keyboard that should've been included in this build to make this a very complete, modern AND affordable laptop, but HP decided to cheap out so I went ahead and finished the job for them. See pic.

Here are two youtube videos that helped:

The poster disassembles the 14" version of this Pavilion.

In this one, the poster replaces a keyboard of like design. It's a Pavilion, but an older model. The keyboard design is very similar though, and the replacement just about identical to what the poster does here except the backlight keyboard has a light pad that is installed between the keyboard and the keyboard housing. The pad has a slender 4-pin cable that plugs into the backlight connector which is located to the right of the keyboard ribbon connector. You can't miss it.
