Hi @Rabio

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for checking—it's a simple action, but it makes a big difference in low-light environments. On most HP 15 series laptops, the F5 key has a small illumination icon (a glowing keyboard symbol). Pressing it toggles the backlight on and off. If your model supports brightness levels, repeated presses may cycle through them.

To turn on the keyboard backlight on your HP Laptop 15-fc0xxx, press the F5 key. If that doesn’t work, try pressing Fn + F5 together.

If the backlight doesn’t respond:

1. Confirm your model supports backlighting
Not all HP 15-fc0xxx configurations include a backlit keyboard. If the F5 key has no illumination icon, your unit may not have this feature.

2. Check BIOS settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS
  • Navigate to System Configuration > Keyboard Illumination
  • If available, set it to Auto or Always On
  • Save and exit BIOS

3. Update BIOS and keyboard drivers

  • Visit the official HP support page:
HP Laptop 15-fc0xxx Drivers and BIOS
  • Enter your full model number (e.g., 15-fc0025wm)
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update and keyboard driver

Let me know if you'd like help confirming whether your specific configuration includes a backlit keyboard. You're doing everything right by checking early, and I’ll guide you further if needed.
