Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

Good day,

I’m very satisfied with my battery; however, after performing a BIOS update via HP Support Assistant recently, I started getting the X601 blue screen error every time I turn on the laptop. When I press Enter, Windows starts normally, but this error keeps appearing at every startup, which is quite annoying.

I don’t want to replace my battery—it can last me a few more years. When I run the battery test in the Assistant, it says the battery needs replacement, but I don’t wish to change it. Isn’t there a way to disable this error message from the BIOS settings?

This has become an annoying situation. Showing the error once would be fine, but it’s unnecessary to show it at every startup. We understand your concern about battery health, but continuously displaying this error message due to your sales policy isn’t necessary.

Surely, it’s possible to disable this error message via the BIOS or another program of yours. Please provide us with the solution. Suggesting to replace or remove the battery isn’t a valid solution.

Best regards,
HP ProBook User

Hi @Boragnr

you cannot deactivate this message, you must change the battery, this error indicates that the battery charge capacity is below 25%.

The battery charges to 100%. It lasts for hours when running on battery, so it’s not at 25%. There must be another solution to this. Why are you forcing people to buy a new battery? That’s not a solution. Even a child would know this "solution." There must definitely be another way. I don’t want to see this error message without replacing the battery (embedded battery).

It is very different what is charging the battery in windows at 100%, than the total charge capacity of the battery, what windows shows is the 100% charge over 25% of the total charge capacity of the battery, all batteries degrade over time. Any notebook will show this error message from HP and none of them can be deactivated.

You are requesting a feature that does not exist in any HP notebook since I believe HP started manufacturing notebooks

HP Notebook PCs - 601 or 60X error is displayed on a black screen | HP® Support.

What you are doing is a very unreasonable action. You are forcing people to buy a new battery. No other company does this; only HP does. I regret my purchase. I wish I had chosen another brand (Asus, Dell, MSI, etc.). This is coercion. This is enforcement.

You are not being forced to buy a battery, you can use it but you should have that error message, it is a valid reminder if there is a damaged component in the laptop, it would be bad if you do not receive damage warnings.

In particular, I would be angry if my notebook suddenly shut down when I used the wrong battery and I would know that the reason was the battery.

There's no need to show this error message every time I turn on my laptop. HP Support Assistant already informs me that I need to replace my battery. Why do you keep displaying it every time the laptop starts? We request an update to fix this. This is coercion. This is forcing a sale.

there is no way this is an engineering design, there is no way I will remove this message now or in the future, I am sorry but you are asking for something that is not going to happen.
