Hi @rabbit30,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must be to see your laptop battery drop so quickly after charging  thank you for sharing the details with me.

Could you please confirm the exact HP laptop model you’re using?

In the meantime, here are a few  steps you can try:

Battery health check: Run HP Support Assistant or the built-in battery diagnostic tool (press F2 during startup → select “Component Tests” → “Power” → “Battery”). This will show if the battery is weak or failing.

BIOS update: Ensure your BIOS and drivers are up to date from HP Support https://support.hp.com/ . Outdated firmware can cause battery misreporting.

Battery calibration: Fully charge the battery, then let it drain completely until the laptop shuts down, and recharge to 100% again. This helps the system read battery levels more accurately.

Power settings check: Verify that your Windows power plan isn’t set to high performance all the time, which drains the battery faster.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
