HP – 15s-eq1041nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

the laptop is like new (bought in March this year). I updated my win10x64 to H2 version, also installed HP driver updates including the current bios. I noticed that HP Assistant is reporting an error to me as it turned out with the battery. I calibrated (manually, i.e. fully discharged and recharged to 100% with the charger connected for more than 3 hours). Calibration has failed. I don't know why on the fourth cell of the battery I still don't see the current value (0mA), on the cells 1 to 3 the values are positive, is it normal that the battery has 4 cells and only 3 are used? It seems to me that the fourth cell has failed and the battery is not, according to estimation, using it. Do I think right? Is such a failure covered by the HP manufacturer's warranty?

Hi @jesser777, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

Depending on which version of Windows or HP PC Hardware Diagnostics you are using, the information and graphics in this procedure might vary slightly.

  1. Turn on the computer.

  2. Search for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, right-click the app in the search results, and then select Run as administrator.

If the app is not installed on your computer, download the latest version. See What if my computer does not have the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows? for more information.

    Clicking Run as administrator

  3. Click Component Tests in the main menu.

Selecting Component Tests on the Main Menu

  4. In the list of Component Tests, click Power.

    Selecting Power in Component Tests

  5. Select Battery Check, and then click Run once.

Selecting Battery Check under Component Tests

  6. Wait while the test is in progress. The Battery Test takes about two minutes.

    Waiting while the test completes

  7. Click Finish on the Component Tests page.

Clicking finish in the component test window

  8. Select Test Logs to see the results of the battery test.

Selecting Test Logs in the HP PC Hardwre Diagnostics main menu

  9. When the testing is done, review the test logs that display for the status or condition of the battery.

    • If your battery passed, click Main Menu or click Details for more information.

    • If your battery failed, continue with these steps.

  10. Check the following for suggested actions, and then write down the battery status and Failure ID. Keep the battery status and Failure ID so you have them available if you need to contact HP Customer Support.

The information in the table is also available in the Test Logs section on the main men

Thank you for your answer. What you suggested that I do, I have done earlier. Battery fails test. I have a message that the battery is working properly but requires calibration. Unfortunately, HP tools fail to calibrate the battery (I have already done it 3 times, but every time HP Assistant shows me a message that the battery needs to be calibrated).

Hi@jesser777,

You have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to check to get to know its hardware is faulty, not a software issue.

I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.
