We'll need a bit more info from you. It would be helpful if we had the model number of your laptop. Was the new battery a HP product or a generic battery? A link would be helpful there.

Finally, did you run the calibration test listed here- Calibration Test . Make sure you follow the steps in the Calibrate the battery manually section. If so, what were the results?

So  I did a battery check recently and it says that I should calibrate the battery but,  I did it with the help of a youtube on hp's channel that is verified about calibrating battery and it still didn't work and it says that if my battery is not calibrated I will experience shorter battery life and that is scary because I just changed this battery.

OK basically a manual calibration entails charging it up fully, disconnecting the AC adpater, then entering the bios and loop the memory test until fail option and let the laptop run until the battery runs down completely. Does that sound familiar?

yes it does

OK that's windows version of battery calibration. If you are having calibration issues after that, then do the manual calibration when the whole test is done in UEFI BIOS, not in Windows.

Taken from the calibration page I linked to earlier-

Manually calibrating the battery requires you to fully charge the battery, discharge or drain the battery, and then recharge the battery. These instructions work with most battery types.

Run a battery test after calibrating the battery. Calibrating the battery improves the accuracy of the battery gauge software so that it more accurately displays the current level of charge.

VIDEO
Calibrate the Battery on HP Notebooks | HP Computers | @HPSupport
This video shown below shows how to calibrate the battery on your HP Notebook. We will use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to calibrate the battery and restore the proper levels.
Charge the battery

Use the AC adapter to charge the battery to a full charge.

  1. Plug in the AC adapter.

  2. Charge the battery to a full charge, 99% to 100%. To check the battery charge, hover the pointer over the battery icon in the system tray on the Desktop.

Discharge the battery

After the battery fully charges, discharge the battery using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter.

  2. Press and hold the Power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  3. Turn on the computer and immediately press the f2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI menu displays.

  4. Click Component Tests in the main menu.

    NOTE:

The purpose is to drain or discharge the battery, not get the results of the test. The battery discharges and the computer turns off before the test results are displayed.

  5. In the list of Component Tests, click Memory.

  6. Click Loop until error to start the test. Let the test continue until the battery is completely discharged and the computer shuts down.

    NOTE:

This test only discharges the battery and does not impact the memory.

    1. Wait 6 hours.

    Recharge the battery

Recharge the battery fully before you calibrate the battery.

    NOTE:

If you run HP Battery Check before the battery charges fully, you might get a false battery failure result.

    1. Plug in the AC adapter to charge the battery.

    2. Charge the battery to a full charge, 99% to 100%. To make sure that the computer reaches a full charge, keep the computer attached to the AC adapter for at least 3 hours.

      NOTE:

The battery continues to charge whether the computer is on or off.

    3. Check the battery charge. Turn on the computer and start Windows normally. On the desktop, hover the pointer over the battery icon in the system tray to view the battery charge percentage. Make sure that the battery charge percentage is 99% or 100%.

      NOTE:

If you plug in your AC adapter and immediately run the HP Battery Check, you might get a false failure showing the battery is bad. If the battery is in a low-charge state (that is, less than 3%), you might also get a false reading.

    4. Wait two hours before using the notebook.
