HP 15 i5 notebook.  I lost my charger and had to purchase another one, bought a aftermarket HP charger 740015-003 45 watt charger.  Now the laptop goes in and out of charging every 3-7 seconds.  Very annoying.  Hardware check says both battery and power adapter are OK. This is a non removable battery.

Do I have the right model power adaptor?

Anyone herd of this issue?

@peteyuma Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are looking for the power adapter part number.

Do not worry. I will help you in this regard.

Smart AC power adapter (45 watt) - 4.5mm barrel connector, non-power factor correcting (NPFC) - Requires 3-wire AC power cord with C5 connector 741727 001

You could purchase the part from HP, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

And order it via the HP Parts store: https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/CountryChoice.aspx?mscssid=&ccode=ZZ&lcode=ZZ

Or alternatively, Contact HP for setting up an order/service via phone support

OK I posted that I had a issue with the battery charging then stop charging every few seconds and thought I might have the wrong aftermarket charger plug.  Here is the one I have, I blieve this is the correct one.  Is the charger cord faulty or is this a windows thing?

@peteyuma

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggest you perform the adapter test and let us know.

1. Power off the PC and make sure that it is completely powered off.

2. Press the power button and the moment you press the power button immediately start tapping F2 key, you should see the system diagnostics screen.

3. Look for the component test, under that all the hardware will be listed, please choose Adapter and initiate the quick test.

Note: If it fails it will generate a 24 digits alphanumeric failure id, please capture that.

Have a nice day!!
