           Hello Community,

I ran a battery report on my hp battery and it shows that the battery went from26,359 mWh to 1,219,903 mWh. can someone explain what this means.

                                                                                                                    thanks KINGPIN300800

Hi  @kingpin300800,

Thanks for reaching out!

From what you’ve described, it looks like the numbers in your battery report may not be displaying correctly. Normally, the report shows two key values:

Design Capacity: The original maximum charge the battery was designed to hold.

Full Charge Capacity: The current maximum charge the battery can hold after wear and usage.

Batteries naturally lose capacity over time.

To help us validate this properly, could you please share a screenshot or picture of the battery report? That way, we can check the details and confirm.

I hope this helps.

HI DEEP_WORLD

can,t share image because i get a message that says file exceedsthe maximumfile size of 5000k. reduce file and try again, how do i reduce file?

Hi @kingpin300800,

The message you’re seeing indicates that the image file you’re trying to upload is larger than the 5 MB (5000 KB) limit. To reduce the file size, you can try the below step:

Resize the image: Use any photo editing software (such as Microsoft Paint, HP Photo Creations, or even online tools) to reduce the dimensions of the image. Smaller dimensions usually mean a smaller file size.

Hi @kingpin300800

Deep_World is away for now; however, I'm Hawks_Eye, and I'll be happy to help you out!

Thank you for sharing the battery report details. I appreciate the effort you’ve taken to run and review the report—it gives us a clear view of the battery’s recorded capacity values.

From the data, the values appear consistent until June 4, where the report suddenly shows 1,219,903 mWh. This number is far beyond the design or full charge capacity of any HP laptop battery and indicates a reporting anomaly rather than an actual battery condition. In other words, the system misread or logged an incorrect value during that cycle.

Here’s how you can validate and proceed:

Re-run the Battery Report

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Type: powercfg /batteryreport
  • Check if the anomaly repeats or if the values return to normal.

Check Battery Health in HP App

  • Open the HP App on your laptop.
  • Go to Diagnostics > Power and Battery.
  • Run the Battery Health Check to confirm the actual design capacity and full charge capacity.

Update BIOS and Drivers

  • Visit the official HP Support page for your model.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • This ensures accurate reporting and stable charging behavior.

Perform Battery Calibration

  • Charge the battery fully to 100%.
  • Discharge it completely to 0%.
  • Recharge it back to 100% without interruptions.
  • This helps the system align its readings with the battery’s actual capacity.

For reference, here is HP’s official guide on battery testing and calibration:
HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery

The sudden jump in capacity is not a sign of damage—it’s simply a misreporting. Following the above steps will help ensure your battery health is measured correctly and charging behavior remains stable.
