@victus15f, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing rapid battery drain on your HP Victus laptop, with only 1–2 hours of backup from a full charge. Let's work through some steps to help improve your battery life.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated BIOS or drivers can cause power management issues.
- Use HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and install updates: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Run HP Battery Check
This tool checks battery health and calibration.
- Open HP Support Assistant > Battery > Battery Check
- Or use this guide: HP Battery Check Tool
Adjust Power Settings
Use Windows' built-in power plans to optimize battery usage.
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery
- Set Power Mode to Best Power Efficiency
- Turn off Background Apps and reduce screen brightness
Check for Background Processes
High GPU/CPU usage from apps like games or editing software can drain the battery.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
- End tasks that are consuming high resources unnecessarily
Disable RTX GPU on Battery
The RTX 2050 can consume a lot of power. Use integrated graphics when on battery.
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings
- Set Preferred Graphics Processor to Integrated Graphics for battery mode
Battery Calibration (Optional)
If the battery percentage is inaccurate, calibration might help:
- Calibrate Your Notebook Battery
You may refer to this document - HP Notebook PCs - Testing and calibrating the battery (Windows) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
