@Sriram27, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Laptop PC 14-d2000 is shutting down unexpectedly when the battery reaches around 65%, even though it used to work fine below 10%. This issue is likely related to battery calibration or degradation, but let’s walk through a few steps to diagnose and resolve it.
Perform a Battery Check Using HP Support Assistant
Open HP Support Assistant on your laptop. If you don’t have it installed, you can download it here: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Go to the "Battery" section and run the Battery Check.
If the result shows the battery is weak or needs calibration, follow the on-screen instructions.
Calibrate the Battery
Battery calibration helps the system accurately detect the battery charge level.
- Charge your laptop to 100% and keep it plugged in for at least 2 more hours.
- Disconnect the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
- Leave it off for at least 3–5 hours.
- Plug in the charger and charge it uninterrupted to 100%.
This process helps reset the battery's charge indicator.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated BIOS or power management drivers can cause battery misreporting.
Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page: Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
Enter your product number (2P5F4AV) if needed.
Download and install the latest:
- BIOS update
- Chipset drivers
- Power management drivers
Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open the diagnostics menu.
- Select Component Tests > Power > Battery Test and run it.
HP Notebook PCs - Testing and calibrating the battery (Windows) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
