I recently bought my first HP laptop which is a 15 inch HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 (4U8D7AV).
Great built design, works blazing fast,..evrything is topnotch except the battery life.
They promised in the advertisement a battery life of 8 hours but in reality i just got 3 of 4 hours just by webbrowsing and not watching videos or multimedia...Its a shame for such a great product

Hi @Ionisus,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It can be frustrating when a device doesn’t meet the advertised battery life expectations. Here are some factors that might be affecting the battery performance of your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 and steps you can take to improve it:
- Have you checked the battery health status using any diagnostic tools or HP's battery check software?
- What power plan are you using? Are there any specific power settings configured?
- Are there many background applications or processes running that might be consuming battery power?
- Have there been any recent updates or changes to the laptop’s software or firmware?
Step 1: Check Battery Health
Run Battery Report:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for cmd, right-click, and select Run as administrator).
- Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter. This will generate a battery report that you can review for health and usage insights.
HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant and run a battery check to ensure that the battery is functioning correctly.
Step 2: Optimize Power Settings
Adjust Power Plan:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional power settings.
- Select Balanced or Power saver instead of High performance to extend battery life.
Change Power Settings:
- Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
- Adjust settings for Turn off the display and Put the computer to sleep to conserve battery when inactive.
Battery Saver Mode:
- Go to Settings > System > Battery and enable Battery saver mode. This will help extend battery life by reducing background activity and limiting performance.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @Ionisus,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Step 3: Manage Background Apps and Processes
Check Task Manager:
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and review the Processes tab.
- Look for any applications or processes consuming high amounts of CPU or memory that could affect battery life.
Disable Startup Programs:
- In Task Manager, go to the Startup tab and disable unnecessary programs that start up with Windows.
Step 4: Update Software and Drivers
Update Windows:
- Ensure Windows is up-to-date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and checking for updates.
Update Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for any updates to your laptop’s drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers.
BIOS Update:
- Check for BIOS updates on the HP Support website that might address power management improvements.
Step 5: Check for Battery-Intensive Applications
Review Battery Usage:
- Go to Settings > System > Battery > Battery usage by app and see if any applications are consuming more battery than expected.
Limit Background Apps:
- Limit the number of applications running in the background and close any unnecessary ones.
Step 6: Check for Hardware Issues
Battery Calibration:
- Perform a battery calibration by fully charging the battery, then discharging it to a low level, and charging it back to 100%.
Step 7: Optimize Laptop Usage
Adjust Screen Brightness:
- Lower the screen brightness to a level that is comfortable but conserves battery.
Manage Connectivity:
- Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use, and avoid using high-performance settings unless necessary.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially resolve issues affecting your laptop's battery life. If the problem persists despite these efforts, reach out to HP Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
