hy cand i upgrade my  HP  elite book 8540 W bios to aplly the settings of limit charging battery ?

Happy New Year to you too.

 

Unfortunately, there aren't any BIOS updates that will add that feature to your notebook.

 

HP didn't offer that feature until much later on.

Many tnks for quick answer! And there is no program to download to do this? I have a smart soket who disconnect each day 2 hours the charging of laptop but i have also a lenovo 420 s at the same age (2011) and i found the program for windows 10 lenovo care ( on original win 7 was included in drivers) take my best regards!

I do not know of any software that is available to limit the battery charge to 80%.

 

There shouldn't be any problem with leaving the notebook plugged in most of the time as long as you don't leave the battery in a constant 100% charge state 24/7/365.
