Hi @probok440G7user,

The behavior you're experiencing with your HP ProBook 440 G7, where the battery indicator blinks orange and white and the laptop shuts off abruptly when disconnected from the charger, could be related to a known BIOS issue.

HP has released BIOS updates that address several battery- and charging-related issues, such as:

  • Fixing issues where the battery charge LED turns off after blinking AMBER-WHITE when the battery is depleted with the AC cord connected.
  • Fixing issues where the battery charge LED changes from amber to white when the battery charges to a certain percentage (usually 88%).

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Update the BIOS: Check if your BIOS is up to date. You can download the latest BIOS update for your HP ProBook 440 G7 from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.

  2. HP Battery Health Manager: Verify if the HP Battery Health Manager is enabled in the BIOS settings. This feature helps extend battery life and can assist in managing charging behavior.

  3. Battery Diagnostics: Run the HP hardware diagnostics tool to check the health of your battery. This can usually be accessed by restarting your laptop and pressing the “Esc” key, followed by the “F2” key to enter the diagnostics menu.

  4. Check for Windows Update: Ensure all your Windows updates are installed, which may include important drivers and software that support battery management.
