Envy x360 15m-bq121dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP Envy x360 convertible 15m-bq121dx with Ryzen processor.
A week ago, I noticed that my OS has suddenly become very slow even with no processes over-utilizing the CPU. (On Windows, System Interrupts occasionally shoot high but not for extended periods of time)

And the fan became always on on highest speed (even though the BIOS option to have it running continuously is turned off). I also noticed that my battery could not be charged. All that happened in the span of a day. I usually have an external mouse connected so I noticed later that my touch pad is not working anymore either.

The machine shuts off if I unplug it from the mains, and would reset CMOS when I plug it back and start it.

Initially I thought it might be a battery+touch pad issue that somehow affect the rest of the system, so I ordered replacements, but upon replacing both nothing changed.

I have both Arch Linux and Windows 10 Home installed, both OSes exhibit excruciating slowness, and the latter shows crossed battery in the system tray "no battery installed".

Is it possible that now the only option is that the mainboard circuitry is damaged ?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run a battery test:

  • Make sure the power cord and adapter is connected to the system and wall outlet.
  • Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off completely.
  • Turn on the computer.
  • Immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the UEFI Hardware Diagnostics screen is displayed.
  • In the UEFI Main menu, select Component Tests.
  • In the Component Tests menu, select Power
  • In the Power menu, select the battery test.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi @Betty0610,

Thank you for the reply.
I have already done that.
The Hardware Diagnostics simply says "Battery Not Installed", no numbers shown.

Also, the touchpad does not work in the diagnostics screen either, but an external mouse does (though it stutters).

I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team as this is a hardware issue.
